Brevity is the soul of wit, yo.

Darling, dearest Dames Nation, like a pair of effortlessly chic jeans, you now number 501 and we could not be more excited & grateful! Thank you all for being such great readers. We love your suggestions, discussions and feedback of all sorts, whether by tweet, e-mail or carrier pigeon!

Your Dames are in Chicago for the big library conference this week, so this issue & next Friday's will both be brief, BUT we have a fun special event for you to look forward to: our ~Valentine’s Day Weekend Live Tweeting~ of one of our all-time favorite movies, MOONSTRUCK. Please join us, Loretta Castorini, and Ronnie Camarerri at 8:30 PM on Sunday, February 15! You can follow along with all the fun & chime in with your own arch & soulful insights by tracking #moonstruck that evening. If you don't, well....

And because Dame Margaret can never resist a Nic Cage gif, allow her to further add:

This Week In Delightful Miscellany

This week marked the 202nd anniversary of the publication of Pride & Prejudice, a true favorite of both your Dames. Vox has helpfully shared two essential infographics -- one delineating Lizzie & Darcy's respective journeys away from the titular vices, and one tracking mentions of both characters' names in British literature over the last two centuries.

The celebs brought a bit more pizzazz (Sophie nearly wrote "pizzas", which tells you where her head is at right now) to their fashion game at the SAG Awards last weekend. Some of these Best Looks are really to die for (some, oof, not so much). Did you have a favorite or least-favorite among these gowns? Let us know!

Avidly struck our funny bones repeatedly and without mercy in Essays That We As Ladies of Early Middle Age Would Like To See Written. This is so full of solid gold painfully recognizable hilarity that we can barely pause our belly-laughing to select a favorite each, but Sophie gives a slight edge to "$80 Is Not Too Much to Pay for the Best of Something, Even a Bra" or maybe "I Have Thoughts About the Revolution, But I Have Not Slept and Can't Find My Other Shoe". Margaret's favorite is "Ten Satisfying Ways of Letting Your Enemy Know That You Are Ignoring Her, While Still Ignoring Her."

Because you can never have too many of these in your arsenal, here's another video of Stevie Nicks being stunning, as she always, always is. This is ardent Dame Nation Member Nico's very favorite Stevie Nicks video, and she's watched them all, so you KNOW that means something.

Noted Dames hero Taffy Brodesser-Akner dropped freelance real talk & insights about her approach to her subjects and work on the Longform Podcast. We fangirl her so hard.

Karen Corday, Dame Sophie’s Very First Significant Internet Bosom Friend, published a two-part SELF-EXPOSE in The Toast this week, all about her quest to attain the status of Sassiest Girl In America. You will laugh, you will cry, you will cringe-cackle with self-recognition.

Fighting racism with Ms. Marvel. Best civic use of a Marvel character for graffiti EVER.

Name a cockroach or scorpion after your least loved one this Valentine’s Day.

And! Our favorite loony yet lovable single-camera sitcom masquerading as a cartoon, Bob’s Burgers, is getting a cookbook deal! It'll be based on the already excellent tumblr The Bob’s Burger’s Experiment!

That's it for this week! Next week will be brief once more, but we'll be back to long(ish)form explorations of obscure(ish) subjects and more links than you can shake a stick at in no time at all. If you have a thematic request for next week's linky deliciousness, let us know and we'll see what we can do!

IF YOU ARE AT MIDWINTER, PLEASE FIND US AND SAY HI! We're both going to (try to) tweet selfies each day so that you can ID us by RESPLENDENT FINERY.

 Thanks so much for reading!
