New for 2026: Introducing Viewing Parties and a Fresh Perk for Paid Subscribers

Hello, Dames Nationals!

This email is just a quick announcement to let you know that, at least for the first quarter of 2026, we are bringing back our practice of watching a film in community! Rather than gathering on Twitter as we did in days of yore, we will open up a Substack chat thread where we can discuss amongst ourselves while viewing. We lost more than our fair share of Hollywood icons in 2025, so we wanted to take a minute and celebrate the work of four people who meant a great deal to us: Rob Reiner, Diane Keaton, Gene Hackman, and Robert Redford. And— even though we have livetweeted it before— we are beginning the series on Sunday, January 25th with a screening of When Harry Met Sally, to honor both Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, whom he met during the making of the movie, inspiring him to change its ending to the happy one we know and love today.

If we still needed a hashtag to label this conversation, it would be #babyfishmouth.

We will share more details about this viewing party in the next couple weeks, but for now: save the date! We have a fun plan for that evening!

And while you’re at it, save these dates as well:

• Sunday, February 22nd: The First Wives Club, in honor of Diane Keaton

• Sunday, March 22nd: The Royal Tenenbaums, in honor of Gene Hackman

• Sunday, April 26th: The Sting, in honor of Robert Redford.

These artists created so many more movies we adore, so there’s a chance we’ll extend this in memoriam even further. But for now, please plan on hanging with us on Sunday the 25th and bring your best baby fish mouths.

New Paid Subscriber Perk: Postcards from Dame Karen!

In an attempt to make her life a little more analog, to follow through on her resolution to actually start using the bevy of postcards she’s been hoarding for years, to put something in your physical mailbox that isn’t garbage, to be friendly, and to say thank you to our kind, discerning, exquisitely perspicacious paid subscribers, Dame Karen is going to be going to start sending out a postcard to them, every other month for the next year, starting this very month.

If you are a paid subscriber and you want to take advantage of this perk, you will find a Google Form allowing you to share your name and address with Karen just beyond the pay wall below.
