Drugstore Cowgirl: Body Fantasies
Not actually an erotic thriller, not actually much of a fantasy
Hi, Dames Nation. This week, I wanted to see just how little money one could spend and still get a decent scent. It had been a while since I’d tried a body spray from Body Fantasies, which I like to say in a hushed, smarmy tone as if I’ve come across a movie called Body Fantasies while secretly watching the scrambled “Skinemax” channel circa 1989. I actually thought Body Fantasies had been around since the heyday of erotic thrillers, but per Fragrance Net, they are a 2000s phenomenon, although they are owned by PDC Brands, founded in 1981 as our old friends Parfums de Coeur—yes, they also do Designer Imposters!
I bought three Body Fantasies 3.2 ounce body sprays for $2.98 each at Wal-Mart: Sweet Sunrise, Twilight Mist, and Fresh White Musk. I chose the first two kind of at random—I liked that they referenced two different times of day because why not and I assumed one would be fresh and citrusy and they other would be a fruity floral with maybe some musky overtones— there’s no scent notes on the bottles. I chose Fresh White Musk because I pretty much always like a white musk scent (all hail White Musk from The Body Shop, my college “going out” scent of choice) and wanted to see how this one did. My boyfriend Dave agreed to also try on Body Fantasies and discuss the scents with me. I consulted the Body Fantasies website while doing so.
