Greetings, Dames Nationals! It’s almost time for us to gather, post-holiday, and detail at length all the reasons Michael Caine ought to have been given an Oscar for his performance in this film.
Although a fully restored and proper version of the film containing “The Love is Gone,” the emotional heart of the picture, will be available next year thanks to the miraculous discovery of an original print of the film, for now we’ll have to turn to YouTube for supplemental material.
You can discuss with us in here or tweet along with us at #MuppetDames starting at 2:30pm ET! Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
So many people put so much energy into making good Christmas songs only to fail miserably and Muppet Christmas Carol manages to produce TWO stone cold classics-- "One More Sleep Till Christmas" and (of COURSE) "It Feels Like Christmas."
I said this to Margaret on Twitter, but I so desperately hope that Michael Caine understands how moving and important this performance is to so many people
I normally have mixed feelings about hiring people who aren't trained singers to do musicals, but it feels SO FITTING that Scrooge's singing isn't trained, like he's doing this thing that he normally wouldn't for the first time and doesn't care that it's not perfect
I have convinced my weirdly Muppet-skeptical 6 year old to watch this with me for the first time. Sure he's also playing Minecraft but he's *here* and this is a real moment for me.
I love how quickly Scrooge loses his bluster around the ghosts and goes along for the ride. Maybe he senses there's no way he could intimidate them even if he tried? And the way he discovers his joy around the Ghost of Christmas Present- trying out little dance moves and such. You can tell even in his private moments in real time he never allows himself to cut loose.
Muppet design is impeccable. This one is clearly a frog, over here we have a pig. Um this one is kind of a honeydew? That one is vaguely shaped like a beaker?
I listened to the soundtrack with the songs that didn't make the movie so many times that I'm always surprised when "Room in Your Heart" and Sam the Eagle's song don't actually appear in the film
Important reminder to all first timers to circle back post movie and watch the cut song embedded above-- EXTREMELY important.
HOITY TOITY MR. GOD-LIKE SMARTY-PANTS

The Hensons sure had a thing for talking doorknockers, huh? There's at least one in Labyrinth, too

Did all Victorian authors have a grappling hook and length of rope handy at all times or was that just a Dickens thing?
WHEN! BEAKER! GIVES HIM! THE SCARF!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Bean Bunny is an underrated gem of this movie, tee bee aitch

The American/British joke and Gonzo whispering in Sam's ear is legit one of my favorite jokes in the whole movie
holy SHIT Gonzo plays Dickens???!!
Scrooge imitating the ghost of Christmas present's dance is such an iconic moment for me for some reason!!
A. Perfect. Movie.

It's always distracting to me that Robin's coloring is just slightly too olive in this movie

Also a contender for favorite joke is Animal hitting the triangle with increasing frustration
Do I frequently cry during this song? Maybe.
Also, goddamn, Steve Whitmire really knocks it out of the fucking park despite what had to be a huge amount of anxiety and pressure
This whole bit was genuinely upsetting to me as a youth, as was the same sequence in Mickey's Christmas Carol
I already completed a traditional Christmas Day viewing of this but decided to put it on again so I could follow along here. :)
Fred's face and blinking as Scrooge walks away is just....absolute comic gold. Give that guy a hundred tiny statues 😂
This is definitely the weakest song in the movie, but it's still serviceable.
Muppet design is impeccable. This one is clearly a frog, over here we have a pig. Um this one is kind of a honeydew? That one is vaguely shaped like a beaker?
Every song in this movie slaps
Never seen this despite my love of My Cocaine.
The slow aging of the ghost of Christmas present muppet is so good!!

This is it. Don’t get scared now.
It's such a shame this movie has no contemporary implications.
My mom called right after Fred got a gift. So I need to revisit the ending later. Off to work.
Fred’s wife looks so familiar 🧐🤔
Smartwool drop that sleeping cap, please.
All of the designs for the ghost muppets are so good!
Did Christmas exist for 1900 years at this point?
Keep your eyes out for Beaker flipping the bird!
If I had millions, I would spend a chunk on muppet vegetable.
I'm so excited for everyone watching this for the first time!!!
